The season opened with Flywheel, Shyster & Flywheel: The Marx Brothers’ Lost Radio Show, directed by Jennifer Wakeman and Dan Brehm. Based on the classic radio comedy created by the legendary Marx Brothers, the production brought vintage humor and fast-paced comedy to the stage. Presented as a special free performance, the show delighted audiences with its clever wordplay, outrageous situations, and timeless comedic style.
In the spring, RiverStage presented Fools by Neil Simon, directed by Jove Graham. Set in a small Ukrainian village supposedly cursed with chronic stupidity, the comedy follows an idealistic young teacher determined to break the spell and bring wisdom to the town’s eccentric residents. Filled with Simon’s trademark wit and humor, the production entertained audiences with its charming characters and heartwarming message about love, hope, and believing in oneself.
The season concluded with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the beloved musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Directed by Ellen Boyer with musical direction by Connie Pawling-Young and Marina Gresh, the production brought the biblical story of Joseph to life through vibrant music, colorful storytelling, and energetic performances. Featuring a wide variety of musical styles and unforgettable songs, the show provided a spectacular finale that showcased the talents of a large cast and creative team.
