In each newsletter, we’d like to take a moment to spotlight a volunteer who makes our theatre productions possible! Stefan Eisenhower is the lighting designer for our upcoming production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons. A graduate of Shikellamy High School, Stefan joined the PA Army National Guard in 2008 and was recently deployed to Kuwait.
RS: How did you first get interested in theatre?
Stefan: I was always interested in technology and computers while in high school, so when the theatre needed help, I jumped in where I could. Eventually I fell in love with theatre and it became more than a hobby.
RS: What is your favorite thing about designing lights for a show?
Stefan: My favorite thing is simply utilizing equipment in such a way that it adds to what the actors are portraying and does not distract.
RS: Where have you worked before, and what were some of your favorite shows?
Stefan: I have worked lighting and sound at Shikellamy High School Theatre, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble and RiverStage. Past shows include Once on the Island, The Wiz, Pippin, Annie, Carousel and the most recent was Love Letters. My favorite show to light was probably the musical Pippin. It is such a fun and exciting musical that allows the designer to have certain freedom when it comes to lighting.
RS: Tell us a little bit about the lighting for All My Sons; what about it interests you?
Stefan: With All My Sons taking place outside throughout the day, I strive to bring a natural feel onto the stage and let the actors own the show.
